Receiving a pinpoint accurate radio signal from the U.S. Atomic Clock operated by the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) in Colorado, the Monex features automatically adjusted Atomic time. The Monex will keep perfect time and display seconds, month, date, day-of-the-week in an optional 12/24 hour format. FAQs: Button Operation (A) LIGHT SET (B) (C) MODE RECEIVE (D) Receiving the time radio signal: The unit will search for time radio signals automatically after battery installation. The radio signal mark ( ) will start pulsing to show the receiving status. If time signal is received, synchronization will take 3-15 minutes and the unit will show the received time. The radio signal mark will show solid curves (pulsing stopped) to indicate that reception is successful. Selecting the appropriate time zone: Please select the appropriate time zone before reception started / after radio signal reception is completed. Otherwise the unit may display incorrect time if the time zone is not set. The upper right side of the display has a TIME ZONE INDICATOR "?" to indicate the four US time zones (printed on the lens) To set the time zone, press and hold the SET BUTTON for 2 seconds and the year digits will flash. Then press SET BUTTON two times (the ? indicator will flash) to start time zone setting. Set to PACIFIC / MOUNTAIN / CENTRAL / EASTERN TIME by pressing the UP or DOWN BUTTON, and the time zone indicator will point to the map printing to show that time zone is changed. Please refer to the appendix for the time zone setting of the various areas in US. After setting the appropriate time zone, press and hold the SET BUTTON for 2 seconds to end the setting mode. IMPORTANT NOTES: A. If the UP or DOWN BUTTON is pressed during radio signal reception to set time or calendar, radio signal reception will be terminated immediately. B. To re-start the signal reception manually, press the SET BUTTON once. The radio signal mark will start pulsing to indicate reception is started. ATTENTION: There will be certain places (especially near the eastern coast) that the radio signal is too weak to be received. Also, during daytime, there may be too much interference that makes reception failed. Under both circumstances, please set the time manually.The unit has an automatic process to start reception, when the clock is showing time between 2-6am. At midnight, interference dropped to a minimum level and makes it a perfect environment for time radio signal reception. If the time of the clock is not set manually when it failed reception at daytime at the first time initiation, then the automatic process may start in the daytime everyday (not during midnight) and eventually keep the unit not receiving the signal.   Customer Reviews Average Review Score: 8.5 » View Reviews  |   » Add a Review Mackenzie on 2004-03-26 I consider this the cream of the digital watch crop. Between the backlight, the date display and the super-accurate time down to the second, this is a very versatile watch. Perfect for timing heart rate while I jog or simply reminding me when my favorite show is on, this one is a winner. Stefan on 2005-04-24 The clarity on the readout is really sharp! I love the style too, it's very 80s.
