But it was Franz Ketterer who in 1738 revealed his invention, that would change these Black Forest farmers' lives forever. And, just like these traditional 'Cuckoos', our clock has been hand carved out of hardwood. with a rich and lavish walnut finish. Later, the clocks are fitted with an advanced Polaris Quartz Movement, for optimal accuracy. Reminds me of my grandmother's house, but surprisingly few stores actually carry them anymore. Glad I found this one, it's cute! I've had quite a few compliments on it. I gave it to her for Valentine's day, and she was very happy with it. Gus on 2005-06-20 I can't believe I got a hand-carved clock for less than $100. The workmanship and detail is quite beautiful and I've had more than a few guests mistake it for an actual antique.
